19 canines, cats found in 'deplorable' situations now improving at Humane Society for Hamilton County

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The Humane Society of Hamilton County is in pressing need of fosters and adopters after they took in virtually 20 animals from an extreme hoarding condition this week. 

The 19 canines and cats arrived on the Humane Society in "deplorable" circumstance, in keeping with Megan Gonterman, Director of Operations at the Humane Society of Hamilton County. 

Gonterman says the entire animals had fleas, ticks and feces matted to them. One pup even required emergency surgery because he was unable to hold up his head or stand.

Gonterman says seven of the canine found residing in grime are available for adoption at the moment, as are some of the cats.

On Saturday, October 6, which you can take part within the Woofstock Survivor Charity stroll. The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and should help raise recognition and funds for the Survivor program, which provides emergency and life-saving care to the animals in the Humane Society for Hamilton County. 

The stroll begins on the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater in Fishers.
