County seizes canines after neighbors whinge animals ‘held them hostage’

LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. – think about being held hostage in your own regional through a pack of unrestrained and unruly German shepherds.

That's exactly what neighbors in a single South Sound group say has been happening for months.

On Tuesday the county took new prison motion in opposition t the dog's proprietor and commenced seizing greater than a dozen animals after officers say all different efforts had failed.

Neighbors hope the county can do what the dog's owner has refused: make sure the animals have a secure home.

"i know loads of the neighbors are going to be very relieved," referred to neighbor Sue Engel. "It's been such an ongoing issue. We didn't learn about all these problems that have been going on for quite some time."

The canines, in response to the county, are owned through a convicted felon who lives on Birley road near the small group of Mossyrock.

Neighbors declare the animals have killed pets, farm animals and terrified cyclists and others while they've been allowed to run wild.

"We've had ongoing complaints about a big pack of canines which have turn into a nuisance for the neighborhood," noted Chief Dusty Breen from the Lewis County Sheriff's workplace. "Their behavior has been causing some on-going concerns."

A collection of infractions issued to the owner by means of the county has executed little to maintain the dogs contained. The county has now filed a nuisance case against the proprietor and soon plans to are searching for a restraining order which may steer clear of them from possessing dogs once more.

"The health department and code enforcement were diligently following up, investigating with these canines, and with via hard work they're in a position to get an abatement warrant to try to get some peace for the neighbors out right here," said Breen.
